Show Some Respect

There are times when rushing the court is completely unnecessary. When a #4 team (Villanova) beats a #1 team (UConn), there should be no rushing of the court. A #4 team should expect to win every game, no matter who they play. Tonight's game in Upstate New York is a great example of when rushing the court may not be the best idea. A decent (7-6 in the Big East, the toughest conference in college basketball) Syracuse team barely hangs on and beats a highly over-rated West Virginia team. While it was 'Cuse's only win over a ranked team this season, it didn't merit such a celebration.

West Virginia has been lucky this year... In every sport. The Big East is AWFUL in football, which is the only reason they even made it to a BCS game. And luckily they ended up against Georgia, who shouldn't have been their either. West Virginia was like the winners of the NL West, the best of a batch of horrible teams, but because of the way the system is set up, they still ended up in a big game.

They had a decent start in hoops as well, but have lately slacked off, losing 4 of the last 5. For 'Cuse, being that 4th team to win shouldn't be that exciting. Syracuse is annually better than West Virginia. The Orange should expect a win in every game against WV, every year. A win should be celebrated with a "Yeah, we knew that would happen." NOT a rush of 10,000 people to the floor. By rushing the court, it shows that the Syracuse fans didn't expect to win. Duke fans never rush the court when Duke wins. No matter whom they play. They expect to win every game. A win is nothing to them. 'Cuse fans need to realize that just because 'Cuse isn't playing how they should be, doesn't mean that every single win should be the greatest thing ever. Show your team some respect. Show them you know they have what it takes. Just by showing up at the game, the players know you support them, they don't need all the fans on the court acting like it's the most amazing thing ever to happen. Don't act so surprised when you actually win a game.
